Adding a child profile
After your first sign-in, the dashboard prompts you to add a child. Each child gets their own profile so progress, level, and curriculum are tracked separately.
You'll need:
- Child's first name
- Birth year (we use this to pick age-appropriate exercises — we don't ask for full date of birth)
- Preferred starting level (or "run the placement test" — recommended for first-time abacus learners)
Placement test (recommended)
The placement test takes about 10 minutes and adapts to the child's responses. It picks a starting level so the child isn't stuck on exercises that are too easy or frustrated by exercises that are too hard.
The placement test:
- Is optional — you can pick a level manually if you already know the child's prior abacus experience.
- Can be retaken at any time from Settings → Child → Reassess level.
- Affects only the starting point — the level adapts continuously as the child progresses.
What happens after placement
Once a level is set, the dashboard shows the child's first lesson, their XP target, and an "Open practice" button. Trial period (3 days) starts here unless you've already converted to a paid plan.
